This week we have been learning to make poems using cats,
about acrostic poems and how to make one here is mine.
 

Camp 2019

Last week we went to Camp Kaitawa for 5 days and had an awesome time. We learnt
about the environment and about the area, we walked to Panekire Bluff, to Lake
Waikareiti, to Lake Kaitawa and to the Onepoto Caves. We had a talent quest,
we went kayaking in the camp lake and we did the confidence course.

Museum and Monuments

Last Wednesday our class went to to town so we could visit
the museum and learn about the story of the voyagers and 
different Gisborne monuments. The most interesting part 
in my opinion was learning about the how the islanders 
used the constellations to find  different places.

The Nellie Varey Poem

In our writing group we have been learning about metaphors and we created some poems to share with our digital artwork.  We had to use six metaphors to describe ourselves. It took us about a week to finish, I found it tricky because we had to find six topics we thought compared and reminded us of ourselves and elaborate on them. Here is mine.

 

Helping Hamanatua

On Thursday our class took a trip to Hamanatua stream and did some weeding.
I learnt a lot about the different native plants and the rest of the river area. I
also learnt to clear the mulch and know which weeds to pull so you have
a small area for each plant where they can grow.

Culture Club Country Presentation

The past three weeks we have been focusing on our Culture Club Country Presentation. Isabel (my buddy) and I chose India because we wanted to learn about a country we did not know much about, as you will see we included the basic stuff like the anthem, flag and food etc. Enjoy.

Our Memoirs

We Have lately been looking at memoirs and even made some of our own inspired by James K Baxter, we also borrowed some of his structure like the start the 5 nouns the 5 verbs and the ending. Here is my one.

The campsite was usual enough ;

it had a playground, a creek, a beach a kitchen and even a campsite shop. My sister, my friends and I did what girls do - swam in the clear sea, ran madly through the maze of tents, helped in the kitchen, roasted marshmallows on the beach, snuck out to watch the stars
